VCR Update: Fire Prevention, February 2017

While the Valdivian Coastal Reserve in Chile was not impacted by recent forest fires in central Chile, the Reserve will be refocusing efforts with local communities on fire prevention and early warning systems.  Read the attached update from the VCR to learn more about the risks of wildfires in Chile and the VCR’s fire management plans.

The Valdivian Climate Action Project is the first and only VCS- and CCB-registered REDD project in Chile. The Valdivian Coastal Reserve protects more than 50,000 hectares of ancient temperate rain forest, and rare and endemic wildlife such as the critically endangered Darwin’s fox.  Learn more about the Valdivian Coastal Reserve carbon project.
