TerraCarbon Helps 33 Forest to Register First VCS REDD Project in the Amazon Rainforest

33 Forest Capital and CKBV Florestal, part of Grupo CIKEL, announced the registration of the first Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) REDD project in the Amazon Rainforest.  The project aims to protect more than 27,000 hectares of tropical rainforest in Paragominas Municipality, Para state, Brazil and avoid the emission of more than 9 million tons of carbon dioxide over the next 10 years.  The main activity of the project involves the cancelation of planned deforestation activities and the decision to conserve the forest area and continue limited forest management activities in the area under Forest Stewardship Council® Certification (FSC®) with Low Impact Logging (SFMLIL) practices.  TerraCarbon worked with 33 Forest Capital to prepare the project design documentation and support project validation.
